The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 30 - Recommendation of another artist based on a love for John Mayer

I recommend listening to some artists that were (and probably still are) his idols and influences, to list a few: Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, SRV, B. B. King, Buddy Guy, Mark Knopfler. These ones I started liking before even knowing about John, and it was great to find out that they have influenced my idol. I really appreciate their music and think that if you like John, it’s very likely that you’ll enjoy these guys’ music as well.

The guys that worked with him, either on his band or in the Trio are also great artists and I highly recommend to check their other works: David Ryan Harris, Steve Jordan (he kills on the drums), Bob Reynolds, the bassist Pino Paladino (he played on the last Adele album), Robbie McIntosh. Clay Cook and DeLa, his early-career buddies, are very talented as well.

The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 29 - Where do you want to see him in 10 years’ time?

Professionally, I’d like to see him being worldwide famous, being known and noticed everywhere outside the US for his amazing music. I also would like him to be more recognized by his guitar playing and lyrics, being more accepted by the media and by the music critics. Oh, and until 2022 I think he’ll take a lot more Grammys home and will have released some more two or three albums, which all of us will deeply love.

And as for his personal life, I’d like to see him settled with the one he truly loves, being really happy together and, who knows?, maybe with a baby already. 

PS: my first thought for this question was: in my bed, duhh! haha

The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 28 - How often do you listen to his music?

Every. Single. Day. I wake up with Great Indoors or Who Says as my alarm song. While driving, the soundtrack is his music (I have a copy of all of his cds in my car - I don’t use the originals to avoid scratching them), and while I’m on the computer, iTunes is always open with guess whose music? Oh, and I’m doing a playlist for the ambient sound at my restaurant and over 50% is of John’s music (I want the best for my customers, you know?! hehe). So pretty much every day, every time.

There are lots of serious interviews where he talks about his music, his thoughts about life, his career, his feelings, and so on, that I really adore and watch them over and over again. 

But this one is really funny! They talk about a lot of shit and I can’t help laughing with him. I love it so much, he looks so relaxed and Alexa is a doll! :)

The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 25 - Have you ever been to a live show?

Unfortunately not yet, but this year is the deadline - I need to see him live!

I’m planning to go to the US in the middle/end of the year, and I’ll make sure to have the traveling dates coincide with one of his shows, but still, I REALLY want him to come to Brazil. John, pleeeeeaaase come to Brazil!!! :)

The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 24 - Be honest - do you like him for his orgasmic music or his good looks?

100% sure it is for his orgasmic music. The combination of his beautiful voice, perfectly written lyrics and incredible guitar playing was definitely the main reason that I started liking him and for what I have a growing admiration for him and for his music geniality. I listen to it 24/7 and can never get enough of it. Later, when I found out how funny, intelligent, honest and lovely he was, I couldn’t help falling in love with him.

And as he’s not as well-known in Brazil as he’s in the US - he’s never on television or magazines here - I actually didn’t know about his good looks until I started closely following his work, back in 2005/2006. But I can’t deny that his honest smile, his perfectly-shaped body, his big hands, his I-look-through-your-soul eyes, his flawless hair, and so forth, made me fall even harder for him.

Oh, I’m feeling so ashamed that everyone’s answer to this question was so nice and classy… I gotta confess my ultimate fantasy does actually involve kissing and having sex with him. I also daydream a lot about dating him, and presenting him to my parents, and chatting, and visiting some nice spots together… things that dates do, you know… :)

I have two friends who are very crazy about him and some other half dozen that like him as well, but not as much and I do. My brother-in-law also likes him a lot, and I love him for that :) But I still think I’m the craziest one among them… And here on tumblr we have all friends of the JM family, one crazier than the other by this awesome man.

The John Mayer 30-day Challenge - Day 21 - Does He In Any Way Inspire You?

Well, of course. If he didn’t, I wouldn’t run a blog mostly about him, posting pictures, videos, songs, and all related stuff every single day.

But my biggest inspiration comes from his magnificent music, his awesome guitar playing and perfectly crafted lyrics that express all of my feelings in the most poetic way.

He also inspires me as a person. He reminds me of the importance of being sincere not only with the others, but also with my emotions. He inspires me in not giving up on the toughest moments, and to pursue my dreams. I also take his advice on never allowing anyone to let me down and to be as caring as possible. And, like him, I try not to take myself too seriously (at least not all the time).

Oh, he as well inspires me in trying out my rudimentary photoshop skills on my photo edits and gifs of him, and on learning how to play the guitar, but I’ve been sucking on both lately lol.

So yes, he does not only inspire me in any way, but he actually inspires me in ALL ways :)

I don’t have any JM tattoo yet, but I really want to do one. I’ve been thinking of tattooing either a meaningful lyric or the flowers of his sleeve in my shoulder. The tiny infinity also appeals me a bit… I’ll keep thinking (it’s been almost a year) and I’ll probably decide and do it in the end of the summer here (it’s better for the healing).

Wow, that was tough… still not sure which one is my favorite, among such great songs as Everything You’ll Ever Be (that I’ve already posted as my favorite song - at the moment), In Your Atmosphere, Covered In Rain, Sucker, Man On The Side, Hummingbird, The Hurt… but, well, Tracing is beautiful! :)
